Fernando Pairican

Ph.D. in History from the University of Santiago. Adjunct Professor at University of Santiago, Diego Portales University and Alberto Hurtado University, and postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Intercultural and Indigenous Research (Centro de Estudios Interculturales e Indígenas, CIIR).

His research interests are Mapuche history in the 19th century, as well as the Mapuche autonomist movement and the constituent process. His postdoctoral project is focused on indigenous peoples’ policies of liberal governments and Mapuche resistance. He is also researching the dynamics of relation between the nation  state and the Mapuche autonomist movements.
